A program working to empower women is celebrating the opening of its first storefront.
The YWCA of Northeast Indiana held an open house Thursday for their new Dress for Success storefront on South Calhoun Street.
Dress for Success is a program to help women achieve economic independence by providing professional attire and development tools. All of the clothing and accessories are donated by stores and community members.
YWCA CEO Paula Hughes-Schuh says the location will help create a real retail experience.
“This combines donations from people in the community with women who have never had the chance to wear those suiting clothes and having a storefront location really creates a better experience for our clients,“ said Hughes-Schuh.
The program tailors their shopping experience to each woman, including a personal shopping assistant.
