MOUNT COMFORT, Ind. (WISH) — President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Jr., spoke in Hancock County Monday afternoon as part of the Indiana Republican Party’s Right Track Results Tour.
Trump spoke at the Indianapolis Regional Airport at Mount Comfort.
Gov. Eric Holcomb, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Braun, U.S. House candidate Greg Pence and Kimberly Guilfoyle, vice chairwoman of American First Action Super PAC, joined Trump.
Donald Trump Junior energized the crowd inside this hangar. Hundreds of people listened and watched intently.
This was Andrew Grammer’s first time seeing Donald Trump Jr. in person.
Grammer, of Columbus, said Monday, “What spoke to me the most about the speech is the economy. The economy is one of the best things that Donald Trump has done.”
Trump Jr. was at the Indianapolis Regional Airport to rally for Indiana’s Republicans, including Braun and Pence.
“They don’t want someone coming from the outside, like Mike Braun, like Greg Pence and showing American you don’t need to be career politicians to get it done. In fact, you’ll do a lot better if you’re not!” Trump Jr said.
Pence, speaking at the event held in the 6th Congressional district, which he wants to represent, didn’t mention his brother, Vice President Mike Pence. Instead, Pence described himself as a Marine Corps veteran and a family man, who aligns closely with President Trump.
Pence said to the crowd Monday evening, “I want to join the Trump team in Washington D.C. to support President Trump and to make American great again!”
Braun spoke directly to the base, describing himself as a staunch business and family man.
“I’m doing it because I think it’s a rare opportunity to change things. My opponent says he’s the hired help. You’ve got to have more on your record than ‘I’m the hired help.'”
He urged the crowd to get out and vote, along the Republican ticket.
“That’s why you have an incredible opportunity right now. Between Greg Pence and Mike Braun. And really the rest of the GOP team in Indiana. Really Greg Pence and Mike Braun especially. These are guys that have actually done it practice not just theory,” Trump Jr. said Monday.
Gov. Eric Holcomb noted Indiana’s low debt and funded pensions. He pointed to a drop in people applying for unemployment and shook the base to vote for Braun.
“We’ve got to elect a former Marine to join Todd Young and elect Greg Pence to Congress!”
“We want to fight for our constitution and for our second amendment and for our freedom of religion. We need people who are gonna go that for us that we trust and we respect. We have that with Mike Braun and Greg Pence,” Guilfoyle said.
Monday, people in the crowd told us they liked what they heard.
Joe Donnelly released the following statement after Monday afternoon’s rally in Greenfield:
“I’ve spent the last six years driving to every corner of our state, and the view from the ground is that Hoosiers want someone who’s going to work hard to bridge the gap between both parties, not someone who’s going to deliver partisan rhetoric instead of results. I’m going to spend the next 15 days continuing to work hard and drive from county to county to talk with Hoosiers and listen to their concerns, because that’s exactly how I’ll serve them as their senator.”
We talked to Peat Seat. He’s with Indiana’s Republican Party. He said it’s possible there could be more big names that come to Indiana, but nothing is announced yet.
