The Indiana Department of Natural Resources issued a reminder to residents to register their off-road vehicle with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Any off-road vehicles including dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles, utility task vehicles and side-by-sides purchased after Dec. 31, 2009 must registered with the BMV, whether driven on public or private land, the DNR said. Exceptions can be found HERE.
The DNR said a three-year ORV registration costs $30.
Registration allows police officers to track stolen ORVs and ORVs that have been used improperly, according to the DNR. Fees from ORV registration pay for increased off-roading opportunities, amenities and services, the state said.
“These funds are essential for property improvements,” said Carman Jackson with the DNR.
