FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The woman killed in a crash that hurt two passengers after the vehicle they were in drove off I-69 near Union Chapel Road in northern Allen County Wednesday morning has been identified.

Following an autopsy, the Allen County Coroner’s Office determined that the driver of the vehicle, Megan Hazzard, 24, of Louisville, Kentucky died from multiple blunt force injuries and her death was ruled an accident.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, the crash took place at around 3:30 a.m.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find the vehicle off the side of the road. It had struck a tree. Hazzard and her two passengers were found inside the vehicle and they were taken to area hospitals in critical condition.

Hazzard was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passengers, a man and a woman, were in critical condition as of Wednesday morning..

Investigators don’t know why the vehicle, which was headed north, ran off the road.

According to INDOT, the highway was fully reopened around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
