1 dead, 1 fighting for life in crash on Clinton Street

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – One person was killed and another is suffering life-threatening injuries after a vehicle crashed into a fire truck on Clinton Street Saturday morning.

Police say around 8:10 a.m., a FWFD fire truck was driving northbound on Clinton Street, responding to a call, when it noticed an oncoming vehicle driving southbound at a high speed.

The vehicle driving southbound hit a curb at Grove Avenue, spun out and struck the fire truck.

The vehicle’s passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was transported to a local hospital where he is suffering life-threatening injuries.

No one in the fire truck was injured. The driver of the fire truck was given the routine protocol for drivers involved in a fatal crash.

The Allen County Coroner’s office will handle the identification of the deceased after the family is notified.
