FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A water main break that closed two lanes on South Clinton Street near the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge will continue to disrupt traffic through Tuesday.
City Utilities spokesman Frank Suarez said a 24-inch water main broke along South Clinton Street near Headwaters Park early Monday morning. The water pressure forced part of the pavement upward.
To allow crews to conduct a repair, the city closed the right two lanes of South Clinton Street, from Fourth Street across the bridge to just north of Superior Street.
Repairs were initially expected to continue through Monday evening, but Suarez said just before 5 p.m. that the lane restictions and repairs will continue through at least Tuesday afternoon.
“Motorists using Clinton during morning rush hour should plan for extra travel time,” the city said.
