Christmas surprise for local family thanks to radio station

Local News

A local family received a Christmas surprise thanks to a local radio station.  For privacy reasons, we are not going to release the family’s name.

However, WMEE Morning Show with Andy and Nichole chose them after reading hundreds of applications for their Christmas Break-in.

The family recently lost their mother and wife, and now dad is left behind raising three girls on his own. He’s also in the adoption process for the youngest.

The Christmas Break-in contest fills homes of deserving families with presents.  This year, the family will be receiving all new appliances, a new furnace, and central air, too.

WANE 15 did speak to the dad. He says at first he couldn’t muster any words about the surprise, but then it felt like winning the lottery.

He says his late wife would be blown away by the surprise, and she’d be just as excited as he is for the kids.

The friends that nominated the family want them to have a great Christmas.

“We just want it to be a little distraction for them, maybe just a brief time where they can think about being kids, and not that their mom is not with them,” says Lisa Pyck, who nominated the family.
