The chief counsel at the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office has been named to the Allen Circuit Court bench.
Steven Godfrey has been selected as the new Circuit Court magistrate. He replaces Andrea Trevino, who was named an Allen Superior Court judge earlier this month by Gov. Eric Holcomb.
Godfrey has prosecuted major felonies for the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office for the past 19 years. Before that, he worked for six years as a deputy prosecutor in the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
“I was extremely impressed with the talented pool of applicants from which to choose,” said Circuit Court Judge Thomas Felts. “I am very happy to welcome Mr. Godfrey to the Circuit Court bench. His trial experience as a litigator and overall legal acumen makes him uniquely qualified for this position. He will be a great addition to our team.”
Godfrey will start his new position on May 16.
