Celebrating National Johnny Appleseed Day

March 11 is National Johnny Appleseed Day. The day is celebrated on March 11 as well as on September 26, the day John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, was born. 

Champman was born in Massachusetts in 1774, and introduced apple trees to regions across Pennsylavania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. In 1845, he died in Fort Wayne, a community which continues to honor him with parks, festivals, and even a sports team.
