Business owner back to work after Carroll Road fire

A local business is destroyed after flames ripped through the building. Custom Quality Meats in the 3200 block of Carroll Road is a total loss, but work continued for the butcher shop at their second location in New Haven.

"It's like a nightmare you want to wake up from,” explains Sandy Seyfert, owner of Custom Quality Meats.

Sandy never went to sleep after the fire destroyed Custom Quality Meats around 9:15 Wednesday night.

"It's going to be a long slow process, we're just going to try and help our customers the best we can here,” she says.

Here being Custom Quality Meats' second location on Ryan Road in New Haven.

"People that had stuff out there, call us here, and let us know. You know, if there was something that you ordered for the holidays, call us out here.  We'll try to help you out the best you can. Reschedule livestock if you had it scheduled. You know those kinds of things."

You can reach the New Haven business at 2616 Ryan Road or by calling 260-749-4100.  Or by visiting their website, CQMeats.com.

Despite losing her business, Sandy is back to work with a smile on her face helping her customers.

"It just keeps you boosted, keeps you focused. And it makes you realize just how many great people are out there. Especially, that's what’s kept us in business all these years is our customers."

Sandy is also making sure her employees are okay

"You know, you just gotta keep on keeping on.  I had orders that were going out today, people that had questions.  I had customers calling. My employees, I didn't want to have them deal with all of that. It's better that they talk to an owner, realize somebody's got a grip on things as best you can."

Sandy says the Carroll Road location had 5 employees, and she's offered to have them come to the New Haven location.
