A horse and buggy driven by a 12-year-old boy was hit after running a stop sign in LaGrange County Monday night.
Deputies say the buggy was traveling south on County Road 300 E, east of LaGrange just before 7 p.m. when it ran a stop sign at the intersection with US 20. A semi traveling on the highway was unable to avoid a collision. The semi hit the horse and the impact cause the buggy to flip over. The horse died at the scene.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries. A 7-year-old female passenger was released to family members who were on scene. The driver of the semi refused medical treatment.
