Broken water pipe triggers fire alarm, evacuation at Heritage elementary

Local News

Fire crews were sent to Heritage Elementary School in Monroeville Tuesday afternoon after a water pipe broke due to cold weather, setting off fire alarms.

According to East Allen County Schools Public Information Officer Tamyra Kelly, cold temperatures were to blame for the broken water pipe on the building’s second floor.

Students were evacuated after the fire alarms sounded, but once staff were able to evaluate the situation, the children were quickly brought back inside.
