A brewery and barbecue concept is going to set up shop in a large historic building on Columbia Street, The Landing Fort Wayne announced Thursday.
Cerulean founder Caleb France and the founder of Utopian Coffee, Brendon Maxwell, are collaborating on the project. The concept is slated for 118 Columbia Street, the previous location for Flashbacks.
“We have been looking a while now for the perfect opportunity to be a part of Fort Wayne’s vibrant food and beverage scene, said France in a news release. “When the opportunity was presented for Brendon and myself to be a part of The Landing Neighborhood, we couldn’t resist.”
In February, NewsChannel 15 learned Utopian Coffee would be putting its first ever retail coffee bar at the former Flashback location. At that time, it was slated for the same location as the now proposed brewery. On Thursday, a representative from Model Group confirmed the coffee shop is planned for a neighboring building in the block.
Details about when the brewery and barbecue restaurant would open weren’t detailed.
The Model Group and the Fort Wayne Downtown Development Trust are working to revitalize seven historic buildings in the area. The 10-year $645 million redevelopment plan is one of the city’s top priorities.
People are invited to tour the Landing on Sunday, Sept. 9 during Visit Fort Wayne’s Be a Tourist in Your Hometown.
