Boy Scout helping Mustard Seed while earning Eagle Scout honors

Local News

Mustard Seed Furniture Bank is getting some help from a Fort Wayne Boy Scout as part of his final Eagle Scout project.

Will Luley has been volunteering at the organization for three years and has taken a particular interest in the Beds4Kids program. It provides twin-size beds and bedding to kids in need throughout northeast Indiana.

Luley is now in his senior year at Bishop Dwenger High School. He is currently working toward becoming an Eagle Scout and has to complete a final project to earn the honors.

Luley decided to combine two of his interests – Beds4Kids and Scouts.

As part of his Eagle Scout project, Luley will hold a material donation drive Saturday morning to benefit the Beds4Kids program.

Luley and the Mustard Seed will be accepting new twin-size sheets, blankets, and pillows from 8 a.m. to noon at their location at 3636 Illinois Road, Fort Wayne. They’ll also be accepting monetary donations on Mustard Seed’s website

Luley said he’s excited to help kids in need.

“It’ll be really nice. So any kids who don’t have a bed will actually get one. And believe me, I’m pretty sure there’s some needy kids out there who probably want one.”

This project will conclude Luley’s career in Boy Scouts and will help earn him the honor of being an Eagle Scout.
