Body found in Kosciusko County river identified

The Kosciusko County Coroner releases new information Thursday, a day after a body is found in the Tippecanoe River.

The victim is identified as 65-year old Thomas Schmeltz from Bourbon, Indiana. The preliminary cause of death has been determined to be drowning.

According to Indiana State Police, Indiana Conservation Officers found a man’s body in the river near S.R. 10 and S.R. 19 around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
