After a 3-hour standoff, a woman who had barricaded herself inside a home surrendered safely to police.

Fort Wayne police were called to the 1900 block of Till Road around 9:30 Friday morning on reports of an armed woman who was suicidal.

Once officers learned that the woman had a gun prior to their arrival but it was removed by another person in the home. They were also told additional weappons were in the home and accessible to the woman.

The woman refused to exit the home and about an hour later, the department’s hostage negotiation team and emergency services team was called to assist.

At 12:50 p.m., they deployed a robot into the home to get the woman out. She then exited the building and surrendered.

She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

During the investigation, the 1900 block of Till Rd. was completely shutdown.
