FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — One man was killed and two other men were injured in an early Sunday morning shooting.
Just before 3 a.m., officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 500 block of McKinnie Avenue. Officers were told one person had been shot at the location, and there was a possible second victim, too.
Once officers arrived, they found two victims. One man suffered from non-life-threatening injuries from apparent gunshot wounds. Another man initially had life-threatening injuries from apparent gunshot wounds, but eventually paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
He was identified Monday as 36-year-old Roosevelt Allen III of Fort Wayne. An autopsy found Allen died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
A 3rd victim drove himself to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Fort Wayne Police Homicide Division, as well as Crime Scene Technicians responded to speak with possible witnesses to help provide evidence, and establish a sequence of events.
The shooting remains under investigation.
