An arrest has been made in the death of a man shot to death at a Kendallville home Wednesday afternoon.
Logan Dewitt, 20, of Kendallville has been preliminarily charged wth Criminal Recklessness while Possessing a Deadly Weapon related to the death of 18-year-old Justin Rodman at Dewitt’s home at 113 Sargent St. just after 1:20 p.m.
It was then that police and medics were called to the Sargent Street home on a report of shots fired. Responders arrived and found Rodman down in the entryway of the building suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.
Medics worked on Rodman for about a half-hour before he was pronounced dead, police said.
Kendallville Police interviewed several people who were at the home at the time of the shooting. A gun believed to be used in the shooting was found inside the home, police said.
Investigators believe Rodman was shot in an upstairs apartment and made his way out and down a stairway before he collapsed in the entryway, a report said.
It’s still not clear how the shooting happened.
An autopsy on Rodman was conducted Thursday. Results have not yet been released.
