Development in Allen County has stayed strong after a record breaking year.
Housing and commercial developers celebrated a second year of more than $1 billion in investments. Last year was the first to break the billion dollar mark.
More than 25,000 permits were requested and approved in 2018.
Officials said in a news conference Tuesday that work has been increasing steadily over the past five years.
Allen County commissioners said new developments attract people and help grow the community.
“What it says is we’ve got some sustained momentum in this community,” said Commissioner Nelson Peters, “and good things are happening in the Allen County community.”
Major commercial projects this year included developments in both East Allen and Fort Wayne Community Schools as well as Lutheran Hospital and Lincoln Financial.
