Van Wert County fatal accident

A Willshire, Ohio woman died early Sunday evening after her husband lost control of the car they were riding in on State Route 81 in Van Wert County.

According to the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to a 911call just before 7:30 p.m. that indicated there was possibly a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 81 between Willshire Eastern Road and Harrison Willshire Road.  When deputies arrived on the scene they found a single vehicle.

Investigators believe the driver, Tim Dellinger, 56, of Willshire went off the right side of the road and when he tried to regain control he overcorrected causing the Lincoln MKZ to crash into a ditch.

His wife, Christina Dellinger, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Tim Dellinger was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were Wren Fire and EMS, Willshire Fire Dept., Van Wert EMS, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Straightline Body and Paint.
