Advancing Voices of Women at the Allen County Public Library

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) - The AVOW  program at the Allen County Public Library, Meeting Room A will host an event from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, January 12,  Fifty women are registered for the program, which is part of Advancing Voices of Women or AVOW's Paul Helmke School for Women in Public Life. It is also a preview of the three-day Women's Campaign Institute, scheduled for August 2-4, 2019. 

Saturday's agenda includes: 

  •     9:30 a.m. How to Get Involved in Public Life  Paul Helmke, Director, Civic Leaders Living-Learning Center at Indiana University, and former mayor of Fort Wayne
  •     10:10 a.m. How to Run for Office  Andrew Downs, Director, Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics
  •     10:50 a.m. On the Campaign Trail  Courtney Tritch, U.S. House of Representatives candidate
  •     11:10 a.m. Campaigning and Public Life panel:
    •  Karen Richards, Allen County Prosecutor 
    • Sharon Tucker, Allen County Councilwoman  
    • Martha Lemert, Indiana House candidate
    • Michelle Chambers, former City Clerk
    • Judge Wendy Davis, Allen Superior Court, Criminal Division
    • Denita Washington, Adams Township Trustee  
    • Lindsay Hannah, Allen County Council caucus candidate  
    • Marilyn Moran-Townsend, facilitator
