Some 300 airmen returned from a three-month deployment at the Kandahar international airbase in Afghanistan on Friday.
The airmen landed at the 122nd Fighter Wing after a delay pushed back their expected morning arrival on a flight from Pease Air National Guard Base in New Hampshire.
The deployed airmen made up about one-third of the 122nd’s base and was the largest deployment since 2016.
A large group of family and friends waited hours to greet the airmen.
“I’ve waited 106 days for this moment … Welcome Home Daddy!,” one sign read.
One little girl held another: “Be prepared, I grew … EXTRA rotten!”
