A woman and a teen boy died Sunday when their vehicle crashed into another and burst into flames.

Fort Wayne police were called to the 3700 block of Stellhorn Road in northeast Fort Wayne around 5:00 p.m. They were initially told there was at least one vehicle on fire, but they weren’t sure if there were still people inside.

When the first officers got there, they found one vehicle fully engulfed in flames with two people still inside.

Fort Wayne fire crews responded shortly after that and extinguished the fire.

Medics pronounced a woman and a male juvenile dead once the fire was out. They were identified through dental records as 23-year-old Summer Lee-Nicole Keesler of Fort Wayne and 13-year-old Kevin Leroy Wiesehan of Woodburn.

Officers said the vehicle that caught fire had lost control, partially because of the icy road conditions, and crashed into another car before catching on fire.

The man in the second vehicle was sent to the hospital with chest pain. His injuries were not severe.

Because of the slick road conditions, police closed Stellhorn from Wyandotte Drive to Roseview Road for several hours while authorities investigated and cleaned up the crash.

An autopsy showed Keesler died of thermal burns and smoke inhalation due to a motor vehicle crash, and Wiesehan died of blunt force injury of the head and thermal burns due to motor vehicle crash, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
