2 arrested in fatal shooting in Marion

Police in Marion have arrested two people related to a shooting that left one person dead and another hurt Satuday night.

Cheryl Mann, 65, has died as a result of her injuries she suffered in the shooting. Mann’s grandson, Jonathan Lovell, 30, is listed in stable condition.

Police said around 11:30 Saturday night they responded to the Luida Trailer Park in the 2700 block of West 17th Street for a report of a shooting.

Both victims were initially listed in critical condition and were both sent to the hospital. 

Police say a 13-year-old boy was asleep in the trailer during the incident, but he was not injured.

On Monday, Marion Police said they arrested 32-year-old Christa Lea Kelly (also known as Christa Goins) and 32-year-old William Robert McCarty on a warrants for Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Attempted Murder, and Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon. They were both found in a parking lot off South Lincoln Boulevard in Marion. Police were tipped off about their whereabouts.

In a news release Monday, police said the shooting was likely the result of an argument between Lovell and Kelly and McCarty.

The investigation is ongoing.
