2 arrested after CVS robbed for medications

Police arrested two men after a robbery at a CVS Pharmacy in DeKalb County Friday afternoon.

According to Indiana State Police, they were called to the pharmacy on 529 E. Main Street in Butler around 2:30 p.m. 

Investigators say a man, later identified as 40-year-old Nickolus G. Toepfer of Shipshewana entered the CVS and made his way to the pharmacy. Police say he allegedly displayed a note to the pharmacy employee saying he was going to rob them of prescription medication. 

The employee complied and Toefer made off with and undisclosed amount and type of medications. The Butler Police Department was called after he left on foot. 

No one inside the CVS was injured. 

Within five minutes of the robbery, police made a traffic stop in the area of US 6 and C.R. 63 and found Toepfer inside.

As he was taken into custody, police learned he had taken some of the medications and he was transported to a local hospital. 

Toepfer is being preliminarily charged with Robbery, a Level 4 Felony.

The driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Jason L. Sheppard of North Manchester was also arrested and was taken to the DeKalb County Jail. He is facing a preliminary charge of Aiding in a Robbery, a Level 4 Felony.
