1 critical in shooting on Fort Wayne's south side

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A man is in critical condition after being shot in the leg on Fort Wayne's south side Thursday evening.

Police and medics were called just after 5 p.m. to a home in the 4000 block of Hoagland Avenue, just south of West Rudisill Boulevard.

Police say the victim called 911 himself, but was unable to provide any suspect information. When officers arrived on scene they immediately applied a tourniquet on the victim's leg to control the bleeding.

When paramedics arrived, they took the victim to an area hospital in serious condition. He was later downgraded to critical condition.
