NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - More than 1,900 customers in the New Haven area were without power late Monday night and into early Tuesday morning.
According to Indiana Michigan Power's website, a crash caused the outage. AEP was able to restore power around 4:30 Tuesday morning.
Several traffic lights were out as a result, including the intersections of IN-930 and Minnich Road and IN-930 and Green Road.
New Haven police officers were posted at those intersections and several others to alert drivers to the outage.
Sgt. Brent Bolinger took the opportunity to remind drivers that they should treat intersections with down signals like a four-way stop.
Officers were stopping drivers who failed to stop at the intersections and giving them verbal warnings as a reminder.
