‘Innovation Home’ tricked out with tech, design

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) There are houses. Then there are homes with brains.

Granite Ridge Builders has recently listed its ‘Innovation Home,’ a 4-bedroom, 3-bath home that stretches nearly 6,000 square foot at 7467 Flutter Road. With an impressive main level atop a basement with a second kitchen, theater room and bar, the home, stunning as it is, has been touted as one of the most state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly in the region.

Built two years ago as a museum of sorts, the home has a Home Energy Rating System rating of net zero, with solar panels atop an outbuilding and the patio that charge the residence and all that’s in it.

And that list is extensive.

The home features a whole-house operating system that is manageable from a smart phone or tablet, along with video surveillance and a motion-activated security system that can be monitored through those devices, as well. The home can open and prepare for the homeowner’s arrival when they pull into the garage. The homeowner can offer friends or family personalized access codes to let them into the home, and lock it when they leave, without ever being home.

Shades can be raised or lowered with a button push, lights can be brightened or dimmed and the thermostat can be adjusted. From odor-elimination paint to high-performance insulation, the home was built to showcase the industry’s most innovative options.

With a focus on smart technology and energy performance, the Innovation Home will allow a family of four to live without an energy bill, according to listing agent JR Ford, Granite Ridge Builders’ New Home Specialist.

The home is also outfitted with HGTV home furnishings and features digital artwork by Indiana native Ryan Nimmo and his Shanghai based art collective, island6, presented by Jennifer Ford Art.

The home is on the market now for $898,900. In celebration, Granite Ridge Builders, designer Choice Designs Inc, and Jennifer Ford Art will host a VIP Cocktail Reception on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and a brunch on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the home – both which are open to the public.
