An 87-year-old northwest Indiana woman was hurt after her Cadillac SUV struck a crash cushion along Interstate 80-94 and flipped Sunday night.
Police and medics were called around 8:35 p.m. to the westbound lanes of the interstate in Hammond. According to Indiana State Police, a 2010 Cadillac Escalade for unknown reasons went off the roadway and struck the crash cushion between the travel lanes and an off ramp.
The impact separated the SUV’s right front wheel, which caused the Escalade to overturn and flip onto its roof facing northbound, state police said.
The driver – Betty Markovich of Munster – was taken to Munster Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, state police said.
