Authorities allege in court documents that a man suspected of fatally shooting a Terre Haute police officer was wanted for questioning in another man’s shooting death at the time of Friday’s deadly shootout.

The Tribune-Star reports court documents state 21-year-old Christopher A. Wolfe of New Goshen had confessed to a third party that he had fatally shot Robert “Paulie” Olson at Olson’s Terre Haute home.

Police say Patrolman Robert Shawn Pitts was among four officers who were investigating Olson’s killing when Wolfe fired on the officers Friday evening at a Terre Haute apartment complex, fatally wounding Pitts.

Wolfe died of a gunshot wound after exchanging gunfire with police.

Court documents state Wolfe’s girlfriend told officers that he told her he had fatally shot OIson.
