A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at a little league park in Bunker Hill.

State police said Tuesday an off-duty trooper noticed a man revving up the engine of his vehicle in the parking lot of the Bunker Hill Little League park. The trooper, Sgt. T.M. Zeiser was watching one of multiple games taking place at the park when he observed 23-year-old Daniel Amonett of Greentown drive through the parking lot at the park at approximately 35 to 40 miles per hour.

Amonett then parked his vehicle.

Sgt. Zeiser, little league officials, and a Miami County Sheriff’s deputy approached Amonett.

ISP said Amonett was belligerent and refused to provide identification. Amonett was then forcibly removed from his vehicle and arrested.

ISP said investigators also learned Amonett almost hit an elementary-age child while driving through the parking lot.

Investigators said Amonett was taken to a hospital because of his high level of impairment. He was then taken to the Miami County Jail.

The incident is under investigation.
