INDIANA (WEHT) – Indiana Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush addressed the governor and a joint session of the Indiana General Assembly for the annual State of the Judiciary Address on Wednesday in the chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives.

The chief justice is required to provide lawmakers with an update on the condition of the courts according to Article 7, Section 3 of the Indiana Constitution. A press release from the Indiana Judicial Branch Branch says this year’s address will focus on how the courts help to make an “attractive state” for economic development and how the courts serve as a protector of public safety.
