Former ‘Good Morning America’ host, Ball State professor Steve Bell dies at 83

According to Ball State University, former “Good Morning America” anchor and Ball State University professor, Steve Bell has passed away. 

Bell had a long journalism career covering major historic events incuding the Vietnam War, the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy, and the Watergate Scandal. 

After graduating from Northwestern University, Bell worked in radio and eventually joined ABC Radio News. He reported from the war zone in Southeast Asia and upon returning to the states he became a news anchor on ABC’s popular morning show, “Good Morning America.” 

He later left journalism and taught in the Department of Telecommunications at Ball State University until his retirement. 

Bell survived by his wife Joyce, and two daughters. He was 83 years-old.
