RILEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Fort Wayne teen was one of three killed in a crash outside Terre Haute Sunday.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office identified those killed in the crash on S.R. 46 near Riley were 19-year-old Jayden Musili of Fort Wayne, 18-year-old Christian Eubanks of Waukegan, Illinois, and 19-year-old Caleb VanHooser of Liberty Township, Ohio.

Two passengers were able to be freed from the vehicle and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. They have been identified as 20-year-old Omarian Dixon of Lafayette, and 19-year-old John Moore of Wheaton, Ill.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the crash around 1:34 a.m. on S.R. 46 at Main Street in Riley. Results of the initial investigation concluded the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree before catching on fire.

A release from Indiana State University’s athletics department said the victims included several football players. Riley is about 10 miles from the university’s Terre Haute campus.

“This is a terrible tragedy,” ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis said. “As we are waiting on additional details from authorities investigating this accident, our hearts go out to the families and friends of the students involved.”

Musili was a 2021 graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School, WANE 15 has confirmed.

Concordia Lutheran Highschool released a statement on August 22nd,

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jayden Musili, a graduate from the Class of 2021. He passed away in a car accident early Sunday morning. Jayden was a member of the football team during his time at CLHS. He attended Holy Cross Lutheran School and was a member of St. Augustine Lutheran Church. We place our hope and promise in life eternal that is ours through Jesus Christ. Our prayers are with his family and the entire Concordia family during this difficult time.
