FORT WAYNE, Inc. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society is running its 2016 Open House this weekend.

Attendees can experience a live, 400-ton steam locomotive up close and personal, take a short caboose ride behind a vintage diesel locomotive, tour the newly upgraded shop of the historical society, visit World War II reenactors, and eat at local food truck vendors.

“Trains always have this incredible magnetic appeal and we are so fortunate that we have these incredible icons from Fort Wayne’s history that we get to share with people all throughout the year,” said Kelly Lynch, vice president of the society.

The open house runs Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
