Holiday ‘cheer’ isn’t for everyone

First News

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Halloween has passed and stores are stuffing their shelves with Christmas decor. At the same time, we still have Thanksgiving to prepare for. All of this fast-paced holiday cheer can lead to tremendous family stress.

That’s where companies like Hand in Hand Comprehensive Therapy can help. Colleen, a marriage and family therapist who works at Hand In Hand, joined First News for more on how.

According to Colleen, they can see three different big stressors: The huge “To Do” list, and hectic pace, the big trauma within families and, the less obvious she calls ‘drama’ within families. People then wonder “why am I not happy during this “festive” time? I should be happy. I’m supposed to be happy, right?”

Watch her interview for suggestions how to avoid more stress during the holiday season.
