BUTLER, Ind. (WANE) – Up until this fall Emma Moughler was a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and running track in the spring. Now a senior, Moughler has added a fourth sport to her resume, and so far she’s been perfect on PATs as Eastside football’s varsity kicker.
Moughler was 2-for-2 on PATs in Eastside’s opener against Woodlan, then was 2-for-2 against Adams Central on PATs in the driving rain. She has yet to attempt a field goal this season, but head coach Mike Eshbach says he’s been solid on kickoffs.
A former soccer player, Moughler tried out for the team after previously helping with the team’s video crew on Friday nights. Eastside was looking to improve their kicking game this year and Eshbach says he was open to anyone wanting to try out. Eastside lost to Woodlan 14-13 in the second round of sectionals last season, with a missed PAT ultimately proving costly. Eshbach says he was determined to shore up the position this fall and adds that Moughler has done just that.
Eastside plays at West Noble this Friday night and WANE-TV will have coverage on the Highlight Zone – Fort Wayne’s longest-running and most-watched sports show!
