FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A $32 million distribution center is planned to rise near the General Motors plant, a development that would create 200 jobs in the county.

NorthPoint Development of Kansas City, Missouri, has filed an application for tax incentives with the Allen County Department of Planning Services for its planned development of a 791,000-square-foot facility within the Stonebridge Business Park at Lafayette Center Road and Fogwell Parkway. The real estate development company had purchased 40 acres at the site for more than $2 million two years ago, and is working to buy up another 41 acres this week. The Allen County Redevelopment Commission is expected to approve the sale of another 41.7 acres Tuesday.

Northpoint has requested a tab abatement that would save it about $2.85 million in property taxes over 10 years. Allen County Council is expected to consider that requested abatement this week.

Construction on the distribution center could begin in July and be completed by May 2017.
