Suspect arrested after firing gun, trying to enter residence

Police in Defiance County arrested a man Monday evening on multiple charges after he allegedly fired a gun and tried to get inside a residence in the village of Sherwood.

According to the Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, 911 dispatch received a call at 9:24 p.m. regarding the incident in the 100 block of South Taylor Street. 

Police managed to get a description of the car the man was driving and at 9:44 p.m. an Ohio State Patrol officer pulled over a car matching the description near the Paulding/Defiance county line. 

Stephen H. Shaw Jr., 50, of Oakwood, Ohio was arrested for OVI, possession of marijuana, improper handling of a firearm and a traffic violation.

He also could face felony counts of burglary and firing a firearm at a residence.
