A standoff at a home in the Cherry Hill subdivision on Fort Wayne’s northeast side has ended peacefully according to Fort Wayne police.
Police were sent to the home for a well-being check after the family of the person inside was worried the man might hurt himself. Police worked for about an hour to try to contact the person officials said.
Officers were able to make contact and spoke to the person for a brief time. They deployed a distraction device before he came out peacefully. Police said an arrest wasn’t made, but he will get the help he needs.
The incident had forced the closure of part of Cherry Hill golf course.
On Sunday, a golfer was grazed by a bullet on that golf course. Police told WANE 15 the two situations are not related.
