FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Two people were shot at a Fort Wayne mobile home park Tuesday morning, and police are searching for an “armed and dangerous” person of interest.”

Police and medics were called around 8:20 a.m. to the Ridgebrook Village mobile home park in the 2700 block of West Washington Center Road on a report of a shooting. Police said a caller told emergency dispatchers that her ex-boyfriend was “shooting people in the trailer.”

At the home, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim – a man – suffered non-life-threatening injuries; the other victim – a woman – was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesman said investigators have an idea who the suspect is and they will “exhaust every lead to locate the suspect.” That person drove off after the shooting, police said.

Later, police identified 53-year-old Fatir Mumin Muhammad as a “person of interest” in the investigation. He was said to be “armed and dangerous.” Muhammad was described as male, African American, 6 feet tall, and 190 pounds.

The person who called to report the shooting was not hurt and is working with investigators, police said.

A nearby school was locked down “as a preventive measure for public safety,” police said. The lockdown was lifted once the scene was contained.

Any information about the incident, or Muhammad’s whereabouts, is asked to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1201, Crime Stoppers at 436-7867, or the P3 Tip Application.
