Police: Man steals liquor, pushes Walmart employee who tried to stop him

AUBURN, Ind. (WANE) Just hours after releasing two photos of a man believed to have stolen more than $200 worth of liquor from Walmart, the Auburn Police Department notified the media it had identified the suspect.

The theft took place at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Police say the man pushed an employee who had asked him to stop after the theft alarm was tripped. Police believe the man drove off in an older black Chevy S-10 pickup. He’s potentially facing charges of theft and battery.

An updated news release from Police Chief Martin McCoy thanked those who called the department with information about the suspect. McCoy indicated the investigation is still ongoing and no other information would be released at this time.
