Police: Bicyclist killed in apparent hit and run near North Webster

Police in Kosciusko County are trying to find the driver who fled after hitting and killing a bicyclist early Tuesday evening near North Webster.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, police and emergency crews were called to an area near the intersection of CR 800 North and CR 650 East just before 8 p.m. 

When they arrived at the scene they found a man lying along the road. It appears that he had been riding his bicycle west on CR 800 North when he was hit by a vehicle.

Ronald Lee Strieby, 70, was declared dead at the scene. 

Witnesses told police they saw a light colored full-size pickup near and another vehicle in the area near the time of the crash.  

Police are asking anyone who might have information to call the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department at 574.267.5667. 

The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse EMS, North Webster Police Department, Syracuse Police Department,  the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
