Man killed in bar parking lot shooting ID’d


FORT WAYNE, IND. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne man was shot to death in the parking lot of a south Fort Wayne pub early Monday.

Fort Wayne Police Officers were in the area of Lafayette Street and McKinnie Avenue around 3 a.m. Monday when they heard gunshots coming from a parking lot. Police traced the activity to the parking lot of Foster’s Sports Pub at the 4200 block of South Clinton Street.

There, officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. A woman and man were taken to the hospital, where the man later died.

James Jarreau Williams, 31, died of a gunshot wound to the chest. His death was ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The woman has been identified by police as 33-year-old Kayla Danielle Anderson of Fort Wayne. As of 8:20 a.m. she was listed in serious condition.

A vehicle at the gas station across was damaged. No one there was injured.

The shooting remains under investigation as detectives work to determine what lead up to the incident.
