Arrest made in Huntington shooting investigation

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) Police in Huntington have arrested a suspect in connection with a Tuesday morning shooting that left another person with non-life threatening injuries.

Steven P. Wheeler faces six felony counts according to a news release issued Wednesday afternoon by Chad Hacker, Police Chief of the Huntington Police Department.

According to the original news release issued Tuesday, officers responded to the 600 block of East Market Street at around 4:35 a.m. in regards to a possible shooting.

When officers arrived they found the shooting victim, since identified as Richard Voght, who was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police have not indicated a motive for the shooting.

The Huntington County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and the Huntington County Sheriff's Department also assisted the Huntington City Police Department.
