The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Fremont man after a home invasion near Jimmerson Lake Wednesday evening.
Police said in a statement 28-year-old Dustin A. Coleman of Fremont may also be connected to a rash of home break-ins over the last several months.
Coleman was arrested after police were called around 5 p.m. Wednesday to Jimmerson Lake Lane 415A in the Buena Vista area. Investigators said police were called after a homeowner confronted a man inside his home.
Police arrived but the unwanted man had already left. Deputies discovered the man entered the home through a window.
The man was caught not long after police were called. The suspect was later identified as Coleman.
Steuben County Sheriff Tim Troyer said his department has investigated several home burglaries since February. Detectives were able to locate evidence that linked Coleman to at least one of those burglaries.
Coleman is in the Steuben County Jail on felony residential entry and felony residential burglary. He’s being held on $13,000 bond.
Troyer said in a statement additional suspects and charges are possible.
