Authorities have arrested a man after surveillance video showed him placing a credit card skimmer on a bank ATM in Warsaw last month.
According to a news release from the Department of Justice, law enforcement officials had been investigating multiple reports of credit card skimming devices being placed on bank ATMs and card readers at gas pumps.
The skimmers store information from credit cards which is then used for unauthorized transactions.
In this case, the Warsaw bank reported a device on an ATM on November 28, 2018. Law enforcement conducted surveillance on the ATM and on November 30, the suspect pulled up and and then left before a transaction could be completed.
Law enforcement followed, conducted a traffic stop and arrested Tirlea Dumitru.
Dumitru was charged by with defrauding a financial institution and possessing access device making equipment
