A Butler man has been arrested and charged with a slew of felonies related to a child exploitation investigation.

Jaisen S. Zentz, 38, faces five counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one addition count of Obstruction of Justice.

Butler Police Chief James Nichols said in a news release Wednesday that the investigation into Zentz was launched after an alert from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children came in about possible suspect activity online. The investigation stretched over several months, according to Nichols, as investigators gathered information, conducted multiple interviews and performed forensic examinations of digital devices.

No other details about the case were released.

“Our department is dedicated to the safety of our children and cases like this just reinforce why,” said Nichols. “We have the technology to locate individuals who are involved in this type of behavior and we are committed to the safety of our children and will not tolerate this type of activity in our community. We will aggressively work to pursue charges on anyone who is preying on children, anywhere the case takes us.”

Zentz is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
