FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified the person found dead along a road near McMillen Park Golf Course early Thursday as a 16-year-old homicide victim.
The coroner’s report indicated the teenager, Quinlan Partington died of gunshot wounds. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Fort Wayne police were called around 6:20 a.m. to the area of Diplomat Drive and Wayne Trace Avenue on a report of a man down after a passerby saw the body and called police. There, police found the teen down along the curb line in the 3200 block of Diplomat Drive.
Medics took the unresponsive Partington from the scene to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, the coroner’s report said.
One resident who lives on the block, Remon Phillips, was shocked to hear that someone was dead in front of his apartment. He indicated at the time he did not know what happened but believed the death was violent.
“it happened right here in my front yard,” he said. “I didn’t see nothing. I don’t know nothing. Stop the madness. Stop the violence. Come together as a community like we was supposed to. Stop the pain. Stop the hurt. For families and friends. Let’s stop going to these funerals man and let’s come together as equal as one as a nation as we was supposed to.”
Partington is the fourth homicide in Allen County for 2017. The incident is under investigation.
