Authorities: Trooper shot inside his home by son

An Indiana State Trooper is in what’s described as semi-stable condition at a hospital after being shot while off-duty inside his home by his son late Thursday evening according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Trooper Matt Makowski suffered a single gunshot wound to his lower extremities just after 11 p.m. at his home in Granger.

After gathering evidence and conducting multiple interviews at the scene, Makowski’s juvenile son was detained on a preliminary charge of Attempted Murder pending a review by the juvenile authorities and the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

The news release from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office did not give any other details.
